STUDENT

MOR Reading is beneficial for any students who want to improve their fluency, accuracy, expression, and comprehension. MOR Reading supports a wide range of students, from those who simply want more practice to those with language-based learning differences. Additionally, the focus on mentorship allows a young reader to develop a unique relationship with a high school student.

READING ASSESSMENT

Once a guardian submits the student enrollment form, the guardian will be contacted to schedule a brief video meeting. In this meeting, the guardian, student, and a MOR Reading representative will discuss the student’s reading goals and challenges. The student will also be given a short reading assessment to determine an approximate reading level. This assessment will also be used as a benchmark to track progress.

MENTOR ASSIGNED

An appropriate MOR Reading mentor will be assigned to the student after learning more about the student’s personality, goals, and reading ability during the initial meeting. The objective is for the assigned mentor to work with the student for the duration of his or her time with MOR Reading.

BEGIN WEEKLY SESSIONS

The student and guardian will join a Google Classroom in which the mentor will post materials needed for the weekly reading sessions, student and mentor evaluations, and at-home reading. The student and mentor will meet for a 30-minute reading session each week via Google Meet. During these reading sessions, the student will read a book of his or her choice, which can be for school or pleasure, and the mentor will have digital access to the same book.
